Canada has recently committed to mandating a 100% Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV) sales target by 2035 for all “new light-duty vehicles.” To reach this target, the government is looking to have 1.4 million ZEVs by 2026, 4.6 million by 2030, and 12.4 million by 2035 which accounts for 40% of light-duty vehicles.(1) Of course this is part of the Liberals plan to fight the ever so dangerous Climate Change. Let’s not get into the idiocy and lunacy of global participation in reducing climate change.

This mandate that the Liberal government is implementing is the clearest example of how modern day socialism works. They give the illusionary effect of fighting climate change by reducing GHG emissions by mandating 100% ZEV’s by 2035 as a global collective effort in the interests of the people and Earth. Meanwhile, this mandate only furthers the special interests of the Liberal government. They indirectly affect the operations of businesses by creating laws, regulations, and mandates to control them. This is in direct violation of a free market economy where people decide based on their consequences, values, and incentives to buy and sell what they want. This mandate forces the change in production of automobiles being made and sold to in Canada involuntarily.

For instance, the $5,000 EV tax credit is an incentive by the federal government to encourage consumers to buy electric vehicles - in short this is coercive tactics to incentivize Canadians to buy EV’s instead of gas powered cars. The coercion is supported by the liberal government's involvement in the fight for climate change by virtue signaling and weaponizing morality under the guise of “saving the planet.” Moreover, the government subsidies (aka taxpayers money being involuntarily spent) on automobile companies to develop better ZEV’s is artificially pushing out gasoline powered cars.

Moreover, what is infuriating is that as our taxes are going up, our money is being involuntarily being spent on subsidies and programs that may not reflect the needs or wants of Canadians. What doesn’t get disseminated to the public is how these mandates and subsidies will curb the dangers of global GHG emissions. What is the cost/benefits of such actions? Yet they will always claim this will help their goal in fighting the ever so dangerous climate change.

This is complete lunacy and idiocy. We are moving away from the double helix of capitalism and freedom to socialism, which in history and current day has shown us the destruction and failure of such an economic doctrine.
